Prenatal Consultation & Birth Preferences Planning

Duration: ~60 minutes

Price: $150 (in-home) | $120 (virtual)

Location: Toronto & surrounding areas or virtual (Canada-wide)

A calm, supportive space to prepare for your birth with confidence

This one-hour session is a gentle, unhurried opportunity to discuss your upcoming birth, your hopes, and your preferences — all while receiving personalized guidance from a Registered Nurse experienced in labor, delivery, and postpartum care.

Whether you’re birthing in a hospital, birth centre, or at home, this consultation helps you understand your options, clarify your priorities, and create a Birth Preferences Plan (often called a birth plan) to share with your care team and support people.

What to expect

Each session is customized to your stage of pregnancy, level of knowledge, and goals for your upcoming birth. We’ll sit down (in person or virtually) over tea or a relaxed conversation and explore topics such as:

  • Your birth vision and values — what kind of atmosphere you hope for and how you want to feel.

  • Hospital vs home birth considerations and what to expect in each setting.

  • Pain management options, both medical and natural, and how to make informed choices.

  • Interventions and procedures (induction, epidural, continuous monitoring, etc.) — when they’re necessary, and when you can decline or delay.

  • Partner and support roles — how to include your partner or doula meaningfully in labor.

  • Comfort measures and positioning for labor and pushing.

  • Immediate postpartum preferences, including delayed cord clamping, skin-to-skin, newborn exams, vitamin K, eye ointment, and early feeding.

By the end, we’ll create a clear, concise Birth Preferences Document that reflects your wishes and helps your care team understand what’s most important to you.
