Birth Doula Support
This page describes a non-clinical birth doula service and is separate from professional nursing care offered under Nurse Yaz.
ABOUT
I am a registered nurse who has supported women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in the hospital setting. Now, as a mother myself and having stepped away from hospital work, I’ve chosen to continue supporting women in a more holistic and sustainable way, through my professional private nursing services in-home, and through non-clinical birth doula support.
In my role as a birth doula, I provide emotional, physical, and informational support for women planning a home birth or birth-centre birth. My role during labour and birth is non-clinical and is focused on presence, comfort, and advocacy alongside your chosen care provider. If a transfer to hospital is required or chosen at any point, I continue to support you in the hospital in a doula role.
Separately, in my role as a registered nurse and RN prescriber, I am able to, when clinically appropriate, to provide professional nursing care outside of the birth event. This may include:
Breastfeeding assessment and support
Prescribing APNO (All Purpose Nipple Ointment) for nipple pain
Postpartum assessment (Assessments of incision / stitches / bleeding)
Prescribing contraception options postpartum
These nursing services are offered separately from birth doula support and are provided under my professional nursing practice.
***As part of my founding birth offerings, I also offer complimentary birth photography or video when appropriate. Documentation is always secondary to hands-on support and is not guaranteed.

Optional postpartum nursing support (separate from doula care)
In addition to birth doula support, professional postpartum nursing services may be available as optional add-ons through Nurse Yaz. These services are separate from birth doula support, are booked independently, and are provided under my role as a registered nurse and RN prescriber.
Birth doula support is a non-regulated, non-clinical service and is separate from professional nursing care.
Nursing services are provided under a separate nursing practice and governed by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
