Post care instructions

  • To help your body get the most benefit from your session, please review the following care recommendations:

    • Hydrate well: Drink plenty of water throughout the day to support your body’s natural detoxification and fluid movement.

    • Rest when needed: Your body may feel lighter, but it’s important to allow for gentle rest and recovery.

    • Keep warm: Staying warm helps maintain circulation and encourages lymphatic flow.

    • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and highly processed or salty foods for the next 24 hours as they can contribute to fluid retention.

    • After your massage, it’s best to keep activity light and gentle. Most clients benefit from quiet rest, slow walking, or simple stretching. Listen to your body and avoid overexertion. This is a time for recovery and allowing your system to integrate the benefits of the session.

    • Do not apply lotions, creams, or oils to taped areas if kinesio taping was applied.

    • Keep the tape dry for the first few hours after application.

    • You may shower with the tape on, but avoid scrubbing or applying oils/lotions over the tape.

    • If the tape begins to peel, trim loose edges rather than pulling.

    • Remove tape gently by day 5 days by applying oil (coconut, olive, or baby oil) and allowing to soak for 10 minutes and then peeling slowly in the direction of hair growth.

    • Wash the area with soap and water to remove any residual adhesive and pat dry.

  • Some mild and temporary effects may occur after your session:

    • Increased urination

    • Slight fatigue or mild headache

    • Temporary skin redness at taped or massaged areas

    • Mild itchiness at taped or massaged areas (this should ease once your body adjusts or after tape removal)

These are normal and should resolve within 24 hours.

*If you notice any irritation, rash, or signs of an allergic reaction, please remove the tape (following guidelines above) and contact me if you have any concerns.

  • Contact your healthcare provider if you experience:

    • Persistent or worsening swelling

    • Severe pain or redness

    • Signs of infection at a C-section incision or any wound site

    • Shortness of breath or chest pain

  • Lymphatic drainage works best as part of a consistent wellness plan. Regular sessions, along with hydration, gentle movement, and a nutrient-dense diet to support recovery, will enhance your results.

For women who are pregnant or in the postpartum period, this means prioritizing:

    • Iron-rich foods (leafy greens, beans, lentils, red meat, fortified cereals) to restore blood levels and energy.

    • Protein sources (eggs, poultry, fish, legumes, nuts) to repair tissue and support milk production.

    • Hydrating foods and fluids (soups, broths, water, herbal teas) to aid circulation and prevent fluid retention.

    • Warming, easily digestible meals to comfort the body and support gentle digestion during recovery.

In addition to nutrition and rest, recovery also benefits from reconnecting with your core and pelvic floor. Gentle breathing techniques, early pelvic floor awareness, and gradual reintroduction of restorative core exercises (when cleared by your healthcare provider) can support alignment, stability, and overall healing.

Together, these practices will help restore your strength, support your healing, and optimize the benefits of your sessions.
